Support Remote Monitoring
SNMP MIBs
Ensuring Support
You do not need to complete any extra configuration on the SBM to enable it
to work with the supported monitoring solutions. However, if your solution
relies on SNMP, the SNMP server requires the proper MIBs (see “SNMP MIBs”
on page 4-3).
In addition, someone must verify that any firewalls between the SBM and the
remote solution permit the appropriate traffic.
Finally, the SBM has also had its security hardened in a number of ways. Your
solution engineer should check the Appendix B: “HP SBM Security Hardening”
for a list of the actions that have been taken and, if necessary, adjust settings
to ensure that your company’s solution can monitor the SBM.
SNMP MIBs
Verify that your SNMP solution has the correct MIBs for your SBM. The SBM
supports the following MIBs:
■ Microsoft/Windows OS MIBs
■ Intel NIC MIBs
■ Media Gateway MIBs
The sections below explain where you can obtain the appropriate MIBs.
Microsoft/Windows OS MIBs
You can find the Microsoft Windows OS MIBs on the SBM by accessing it using
Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). They are stored in the C:\Win-
dows\System32 directory. You can identify them by the.mib file extension.
Microsoft might offer updates for these MIBs; refer to Microsoft for more
information.
Intel NIC MIBs
The current version for these MIBs in 15.5 (14.7 or later is supported). You can
obtain these MIBs (as well as updates for MIBs should the Intel driver be
updated) from Intel’s website. Look for and download the Ethernet Connec-
tions CD; the MIBs are typically contained in the APPS\SNMP\MIB folder of
that download.
