Configure IP Settings
Your SBM might already have the correct IP settings either assigned to it by
the domain DHCP server or set during the initial installation. The SBM
requires:
A valid IP address and default gateway address, which provide the SBM
with connectivity to the data center
The domain DNS server IP address
The IP settings should typically be configured on the internal Ethernet inter-
face 2.
If the SBM already has these settings, you can immediately click Next and
move to “Configure the System Time” on page 2-12.
If you need to configure network settings, the sections below give guidelines;
when you are finished, click Next.
Caution Do not disable Ethernet interface 2. The SBM requires this interface to
communicate with the HP zl switch in which it is installed; disabling it causes
a fault condition.
In addition, you typically should not enable Ethernet interface 1. Doing so
without first ensuring that the data center has been properly configured can
cause the SBM’s services to fail.
Network Interfaces
The SBM has three network interfaces:
Internal Ethernet Interface 1—The SBM's internal 10 Gigabit port 1, which
is disabled by default. You can use this interface as a backup connection
for Ethernet interface 2; however, data center engineers must complete
special DNS setup. Therefore, you should typically leave this interface
disabled.
Internal Ethernet Interface 2— The SBM's internal 10 Gigabit port 2, used to
connect to the branch LAN (and from there to the data center over a WAN
connection). Typically, this is the interface that has the IP address associ-
ated with the SBM hostname.
