Failed Domain Join
If the domain join fails, check these settings (some will require you to ask
administrators at the data center to check settings at their end):
You have the correct domain user credentials to join the SBM to the
domain:
Username and password are correct.
You are a member of the group that is allowed to join the SBM to the
domain (RTCUniversalSBATechnicians).
The SBM has the correct IP settings, including connectivity to the domain
controller. The domain DNS server is configured as the SBM’s DNS server.
You cannot move back to the Configure Network Connections page. If you
need to change the settings, you can do so from the SBM CLI (see
Appendix C: “Command-Line Reference”) or via RDP (see “Access the
SBM via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)” on page 2-5).
The time on the SBM's HP zl switch is synchronized with the domain
controller’s time. (See “HP zl Switch Commands for Setting the Time” on
page 2-13.)
The proper ports for allowing a domain join are open on all firewalls
between the SBM and the domain controller.
To check connectivity, you can ping the domain controller:
1. Connect to the SBM via RDP and log in with your new Administrator
password.
2. Open a command prompt from the Start menu (always right-click and run
as an administrator).
3. Enter this command:
When you have succeeded in joining the domain, return to step 5 on page 2-17.
Syntax: ping <address>
Replace <address> with the IP address or FQDN that you
want to ping.
