SBM powered by Microsoft Lync Installation and Getting Started Guide 2010-11

C-3
Hardware Components
Upper Deck
Upper Deck
The module includes an upper deck PCA, which provides two PCIe slots.
These slots support two user-installable telephony PCIe cards. For informa-
tion on installing these cards, please see the insert shipped with these cards.
Lower Deck
The module also includes a lower deck, which supports the compact flash
card and the 250 GB disk drive.
Internal Ports
The module receives traffic from and transmits traffic to its host switch on
two internal Ethernet ports, each of which supports 10 Gbps. When a module
is installed in the host switch, the switch automatically detects these internal
ports and names them according to the lower slot in which the module is
installed. For example, if the module is installed in slots A and C, the switch
references the ports as C1 and C2.
The SBM should typically only communicate with the LAN on a single internal
port. By default, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Ethernet interface that corre-
sponds with port 1 on the HP zl switch is disabled. You can also disable the
<slot>1 port from the switch side. However, you must never disable the
<slot>2 port.
Caution If you disable the <slot>2 port, the communications between the HP zl switch
and the SBM will fail, causing first the module to fail and then the switch to
report the SBM as a malfunctioning module.
