Install Updates
Updates are provided to customers that have registered for a Care Pack on the HP Survivable Branch Communication zl
Module powered by Microsoft Lync. For available Care Packs see “SBM Care Packs” on page 5. Information on how to obtain
the software update can be found here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02665350
To update the software of the HP Survivable Branch Communication zl Module (SBM) powered by Microsoft Lync
TM
, you will
run an executable file using a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) session with the SBM.
HP recommends performing a back up of the system prior to updating the software and store the backup off of the SBM. See
the BackUp and Restore section in the “Manage and Monitor the HP SBM Locally” chapter in the HP Survivable Branch
Communication zl Module powered by Microsoft Lync™ Administrator’s Guide.
The HP SBM must reboot after the installation, therefore you should schedule a phone network outage during the update
procedure. The SBM’s configurations (including the Media Gateway settings) will be preserved after the update but custom
routing rules will be deleted. Custom rules are manually added via the web editor or directly in the routing rules file. The
components using the SBM in the branch office should automatically switch over to the main offices when the SBM is
unavailable.
Version 1.1.19.0 Update
This update contains Media Gateway Version 4.1.
The 1.1.19.0 update DOES NOT overwrite existing PSTN Configuration or PSTN Routing Rules.
After updating to 1.1.19.0, the previous HP Media Gateway configuration data is archived to C:\Program Files\Hewlett-
Packard\SIP-PSTN Gateway\config-archives.
On updating to 1.1.19.0, if FXO ports are enabled, you will be required to run the PSTN Setup Wizard in order to configure the
phone number assigned for incoming calls.
Note Anytime you run the PSTN Setup Wizard, any existing PSTN Configuration and PSTN Routing Rules
will be overwritten. Custom configurations or rules will need to be applied again after the setup wizard
has completed.
The HP Media Gateway service will fail to start after updating to 1.1.19.0 if the level control mode
(Physical Configurations -> (digital) -> Level Control Configuration) has been configured to MANUAL prior to
updating.
