Converting xl Radio Port Licenses for use with Wireless Services zl Modules Support Note

1 Introduction ProCurve customers who have purchased and installed J9002A (12 Radio Port license product for Wireless Edge Services xl Modules) may convert and install these licenses for use with Wireless Edge Services zl Modules. Note O Wireless Edge Services Modules include 12 Radio Port licenses pre-installed at the factory. Pre-installed licenses may not be removed. O Converting xl licenses for use on a Wireless Edge Services zl Module is not reversible.
Prerequisites To remove and install licenses, you will need: O To be registered on the My ProCurve Web portal. Registration is free, and it allows you to perform all of the licensing functions. If you are not already registered, point your Web browser to http://my.procurve.com and follow the registration instructions. O In addition, you will need config-level access to the ProCurve network devices you wish to manage.
O uninstall verification key — This number is generated by the Wireless Edge Services Module when you uninstall a radio-port license. You can use it to generate a new registration ID on the My ProCurve portal. The new registration ID allows you to transfer the license to a different module. Maximum Licenses Supported Each ProCurve Wireless EDGE Services zl Module supports up to 156 radio-port licenses. For changes in license support, review the Release Notes supplied with software updates for the module.
Wireless Edge Services Module’s Web Interface To access your Wireless Edge Services Module’s Web interface, enter its IP address in your Web browser. Then log in (default Username/Password is manager/procurve).
2 Procedures The procedures to convert an xl license for use in a Wireless Edge Services zl Module requires that you alternate between the My ProCurve portal and the Web browser interfaces for the xl Module and the zl Module. See Figure 2-1 (screen details are provided later in this chapter). As you go through the procedure, use at least two Web browser windows open on your monitor. You will find it convenient to copy and paste information between the two windows.

Step 1. Uninstall the xl License, Generate an Uninstall Verification Key If you wish to transfer your license from a currently licensed device to a different device, you must first uninstall it from the device that is currently licensed. In return you receive an Uninstall Verification Key. On the MyProCurve portal, the Uninstall Verification Key is used to create a new Registration ID, which will be used to install the license on a different device. 1.

You can use the show licenses uninstalled CLI command to recover the last uninstall verification key issued by the device. Step 2. Create a New Registration ID for the zl License Product 1. Open your Web browser, go to the My ProCurve portal (http://my.procurve.
5. Enter the Uninstall Verification Key (paste using Ctrl-V, or type it in) in the Uninstall Verification ID field, and click Next. 6. For the uninstalled license, select the ProCurve license product that you want to assign it. In this case, select J9053A - ProCurve Switch zl WLAN Module 12 RP License. Then click Next.
Note Converting xl licenses for use on a Wireless Edge Services zl Module is not reversible. The licenses will no longer be usable on xl Modules. 7. This generates a new Registration ID number, which is displayed on the screen. This Registration ID is needed to install the zl License for your zl Module. Copy (highlight and Ctrl-C) or record the new Registration ID number.
The new Registration ID will also be e-mailed to you, and is maintained in your My ProCurve account. 8. Click Device Software, to view the Registration ID page, and enter the new Registration ID. Click Next. This enters the registration ID number and takes you to the Hardware ID page. The Hardware ID is obtained from the zl Module. Now you will leave My ProCurve and go to the zl Module’s Web browser interface.
Step 3. Generate a zl Module Hardware ID 1. Open the Web browser interface to your Wireless Edge Services zl Module. In the navigation pane on the left, go to Management > Licenses. On the LicenseInstall Summary tab, click Install… at the bottom of the page. 1. 2. In the Step 1 section, click Gen-Hw-ID. The Hardware ID is now displayed under System Generated Hardware Id. Copy the Hardware ID number (highlight and CtrlC) from the screen or write it down.
Step 4. Generate a License Key 1. Return to the Hardware ID window on My ProCurve, and enter the Hardware ID number in the Enter Hardware ID field. If desired, enter notes in the Customer Notes field. You might, for example, identify which device has been licensed and where it is located. These notes are kept, along with the Registration ID number, in your account on the My ProCurve portal. 2. Click Next. This takes you to the License Agreement page.
3. Read the license terms and, if you agree to them, check the I agree to the license terms box. Then click Generate License. This generates a License Key and displays it on the License Key Confirmation page. The License Key is also e-mailed to you.
4. Copy the License Key (Ctrl-C) from the screen or write it down. You will enter this key into the zl Module’s Web browser interface to install the license. Step 5. Enter the License Key in the zl Module’s Web Interface 1. Return to the zl Module’s Web browser interface. In the Step 2 section, enter the License Key, then click Lic-Install. A message confirms a successful installation or identifies a problem that prevented the license from installing. Click Close.
Step 6. Confirm the Additional License is Installed. 1. Confirm that the new license is now listed on the Management > Licenses page.
