Global Configuration Context
Note Even if you do not plan to configure the module for high availability (HA), you
should change the HA VLAN from default to prevent unwanted multicast
traffic from occupying the firewall's resources.
Set the Cluster Scheme and Multicast Address
To set the cluster scheme and configure the cluster’s parameters, enter the
following command:
Syntax: [no] high-availability active-standby cluster <cluster ID> device <device ID>
priority <device priority> ] [multicast-ip <multicast address>]
Replace <cluster ID> with the cluster’s ID number (1–16).
Replace <device ID> with the module’s ID number within the cluster (1–2).
Replace <device priority> with the priority number of the device within the
cluster (1–255). The device with the highest number will be selected as the
cluster master, should the cluster master fail.
Replace <multicast address> with the multicast IP address to be used by
the HA protocols. The default multicast address is 224.0.0.18.
For example, to set the cluster scheme to active standby, with a cluster ID and
device ID of 2, a device priority of 3, and the default multicast address, enter
the following command:
ProCurve(tms-module-<slot ID>:config)# high-availability
active-standby cluster 2 device 2 priority 3
Synchronize the Cluster
Only the cluster master can synchronize the cluster.
To synchronize all other members of the cluster to the master’s startup-
configuration, enter the following command.
Syntax: high-availability synchronize
Exit the Cluster
To remove the module from a cluster, enter the following command.
Syntax: no high-availability
