Global Configuration Context
To enter the VLAN context, enter the following:
Syntax: vlan <VLAN ID>
Replace <VLAN ID> with the VLAN ID.
To verify your location in the CLI, check the prompt. In the VLAN context, the
prompt is ProCurve(tms-module-<slot ID>:vlan-<VLAN ID>)#.
From the VLAN context, you can:
■ Assign the VLAN to a zone
■ Assign the VLAN IP settings
■ Activate IGMP or PIM sparse mode routing
■ Configure routing settings—RIP and OSPF
To add a VLAN to a zone, enter the following command:
Syntax: zone <zone>
Replace <zone> with the zone to which you want to assign the VLAN.
To assign the VLAN IP settings, enter the following command:
Syntax: ip address < dhcp | <IP address/prefix length > >
Replace <IP address/prefix length> with the module’s static IP address and
prefix length for the subnet associated the VLAN.
From the VLAN context, you can:
■ Enable IGMP on the VLAN
To enable IGMP on a VLAN, enter the following command:
Syntax: ip igmp
RIP. From the VLAN context you can configure the following RIP settings:
■ Metric
■ RIP version
■ Authentication
■ Disable RIP updates
To set the RIP metric for the VLAN, enter the following command:
Syntax: ip rip metric <metric>
Replace <metric> with the metric for the VLAN (1-16).
