Glossary
convergence The time that it takes all routers on a network to receive the same information
about network topology and the best routes to use to reach a particular
destination.
copy DF bit The IPsec option to copy the DF bit from the original IP header to the delivery
header. In this way, it ensures the correct handling for the packet.
copy DSCP value The IPsec option to copy the DSCP value from the original IP header to the
delivery header, which marks the packet for a particular QoS.
cost The impact of a specific hop of an OSPF route. The lower the cost, the more
preferred the hop.
CRL Certificate Revocation List. In PKI, a list of certificates that are no longer valid
or that have been revoked. For more information, see RFC 3280 at http://
www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3280.txt.
crypto map On the TMS zl Module, the crypto map is called IPsec policy.
CS Class Selectors. DiffServ designators that provide backwards compatibility for
the old ToS field.
custom timeout A timeout applied to a specific transport protocol and port.
CVE ID Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures Identifier.A unique number that is
assigned to a particular kind of network attack. The CVE ID is listed for every
signature that has one.
D
dashboard The default window on the TMS zl Module’s Web browser interface. The
dashboard shows current connections, system resource usage, and other up-
to-date status information.
Data Encryption
Standard
See DES.
data port Physical port 1 on the TMS zl Module (J1 on the circuit board), which plugs
into the host switch backplane. In routing mode, the data port is a tagged
member of every TMS VLAN. In monitor mode, the data port receives mirrored
traffic from the host switch.
dead interval The amount of time an OSPF router waits for route advertisements from a peer
router before declaring a route dead.
