clear DF bit An option that permits you to set the DF bit to 0, which means that the packet
can be fragmented in an IPsec SA.
cleartext Data that is immediately comprehensible to a human being--a message that is
transmitted or stored without encryption.
CLI Command-Line Interface. An interface that requires that the user manually
type commands at a command prompt, one line at a time. A CLI is usually
accessed via Telnet, SSH, or a serial connection.
client-to-site A type of VPN tunnel between a VPN gateway and a remote host. The remote
host is the initiator.
cluster Two TMS zl Modules that have been configured for HA.
CN Common Name. An ANSI.1-formatted name that designates the device itself,
for example, /C=

community name In SNMP, a shared secret that is used for the authentication of SNMP clients.
The community name identifies a group of devices sharing SNMPv2 messages.
connected route A route between two devices that are directly connected to one another,
meaning that a single network cable connects the two devices.

The determination of how many connections should be allotted to a zone or
a group of IP addresses.
connection cost A metric that indicates the bandwidth, traffic congestion, or speed of a partic-
ular router-to-router link.
