Routing
OSPF
1. For Router Identifier, type the IP address that will uniquely identify the
router.
2. Click Apply My Changes.
Note You will briefly lose your connection with the module if you change the Router
ID while connecting to the module through an OSPF-learned route. Once the
module’s new router ID is propagated through the network, you will be able
to reconnect.
Set RFC 1583 Compatibility
With RFC 1583, some configurations cause a problem with routing loops. For
example, if your network had several external routes from different areas to
the same external destination, then multiple LSAs would likely advertise the
same destination, creating a routing loop. The module supports the most
current RFC regarding OSPF, RFC 2328, which takes more measures to pre-
vent routing loops.
By default, the TMS zl Module has RFC 1583 compatibility disabled. However,
all of your routers must support the same routing-loop prevention method.
Therefore, if other routers on your network support only RFC 1583, you must
enable RFC 1583 compatibility. Conversely, if other routers on your network
support RFC 2178 or RFC 2328, you should disable RFC 1583 compatibility.
This way you will have more powerful protection against routing loops on
external routes.
To enable the RFC 1583 compatibility, click Network > Routing and click the
OSPF tab.
1. Select the RFC 1583 compatible check box.
2. Click Apply my changes.
Set the Administrative Distance
The administrative distance for OSPF is 110 by default. You can change the
administrative distance from the Network > Routing > OSPF window by typing
a new value in the Administrative Distance field.
