Initial Setup in Routing Mode
Configure Management Access Settings
For example, you might enter:
hostswitch (tms-module-C:config)# ping 10.1.99.101
PING 10.1.99.101(10.1.99.101) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.1.99.101: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255
time=1.54 ms
64 bytes from 10.1.99.101: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255
time=0.515 ms
64 bytes from 10.1.99.101: icmp_seq=3 ttl=255
time=0.526 ms
b. If the default gateway is not in a management-access zone, the TMS zl
Module will block ICMP echo packets between the Self zone and the
gateway’s zone until you create an access policy to allow this traffic.
i. Create an access policy to permit ICMP echo packets between
the Self zone and the gateway’s zone:
ii. Ping the default gateway.
hostswitch (tms-module-C:config)# ping <default
gateway>
Syntax: access-policy self <destination zone> permit icmp echo host
<source address> host <destination address>
Creates an access policy to allow pings from the TMS
zl Module to another device.
Replace <destination zone> with the default gateway’s
zone.
Replace <source address> with the TMS zl Module’s IP
address on the VLAN that connects to the default
gateway.
Replace <destination address> with the default gate-
way’s IP address.
For a complete list of all options available for the
access-policy command, see “access-policy” in Appen-
dix A: “Command-Line Reference.”
