Initial Setup

To receive IDS/IPS signatures, you can purchase an HP Threat Management

Services zl Module with 1-Year IDS/IPS Subscription (J9156A). Or you can

purchase one of the following subscriptions separately from the module:

■ HP Threat Management Services 1-Year IDS/IPS Subscription (J9157A)

■ HP Threat Management Services 2-Year IDS/IPS Subscription (J9158A)

■ HP Threat Management Services 3-Year IDS/IPS Subscription (J9159A)

To begin using an IDS/IPS signature subscription, you must first register it on

the My Networking portal (a process that is outlined below).

Note Unlike the TMS zl Module activation process, the subscription registration

process does not require you to install a license key on the module or reboot

the module.

To register the IDS/IPS signature subscription, complete the following tasks.

(Step-by-step instructions for each task are provided in the sections that

follow.)

1. Obtain the subscription registration ID and the TMS-subscription hard-

ware ID.

2. Enter the subscription registration ID and the TMS-subscription hardware

ID on the My Networking portal.

Obtain the Necessary IDs

Before you begin to register an IDS/IPS signature subscription, you must

obtain the subscription registration ID and the TMS-subscription

hardware ID.

Subscription Registration ID. If you purchased an IDS/IPS signature sub-

scription, you received an HP Threat Management Services x-Year IDS/IPS

Subscription Registration Card. As shown in Figure 2-9, a subscription

registration ID is printed on the inside of this Registration Card. You will need

this subscription registration ID when you register the IDS/IPS signature

subscription.
