TMS zl Management and Configuration Guide ST.1.2.100916

Initial Setup in Routing Mode
Modify Management Settings
Select a Priority VLAN
When you select a priority VLAN, management traffic from that VLAN to Self
is guaranteed a connection even when connection limits have been reached
and CPU cycles are at maximum. Typically, the priority VLAN should be in a
management-access zone. However, you should be able to always reach the
module through the priority VLAN, regardless of whether it is in a manage-
ment-access zone (as long as the correct access policies are in place).
1. From the Priority VLAN list, select a VLAN to be given priority over all other
VLANs.
2. Click Apply My Changes.
3. Click Save.
Change the Default Gateway
The default gateway is typically an external router but can also be the host
switch or a core switch. Typically, the TMS zl Module connects to its default
gateway on a VLAN in the External zone because this zone provides special
protections designed for untrusted Internet traffic. However, you can associ-
ate the VLAN of the TMS zl Module’s default gateway with any zone that you
choose.
Typically, you should configure the default gateway as part of the initial set up
from the CLI; however, you can also configure the default gateway from the
Web browser interface. You can also add a second default gateway. In this
case, the metric and administrative distance for the two default routes will
determine which is preferred.
Follow these steps:
1. Determine the VLAN on which the TMS zl Module connects to its default
gateway. See “Configure Management Access Settings” on page 2-32 to
see how to determine the default gateway.
2. Click Network > Routing > Static Routes.
3. Click Add static route.
