TMS zl Management and Configuration Guide ST.1.2.100916

Initial Setup in Routing Mode
Configure Zones
6. If the host switch must have an IP address on this VLAN, select the Allow
switch to have IP address check box.
Note It is recommended that the host switch not have an IP address on a TMS VLAN
if Layer 3 routing is enabled on the host switch. Inter-VLAN traffic must be
routed through the TMS zl Module instead of being routed directly by the
switch. If you allow the switch to have an IP address on the VLAN, make sure
that the TMS zl Module’s IP address (not the switch’s IP address) is the default
gateway for endpoints on that VLAN.
7. If you want the TMS VLAN to have a unique MAC address, select the Assign
unique MAC address check box.
By default, every TMS VLAN shares a MAC address. However, some
applications do not run correctly unless the default gateway on each VLAN
has a unique MAC address. If this VLAN includes applications such as
these, select this check box.
8. Click Apply.
9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 to add more VLANs to zones.
10. When you are finished adding VLANs, click Save.
To modify or delete a TMS VLAN association, use the Edit or Delete icon in the
VLAN’s Tools column.
Note You cannot delete a VLAN association if DHCP relay, routing, or a VPN policy
is enabled on the VLAN.
