Ping Utility
Before you get your network up and running, you will likely want to check
connectivity. This is most easily done by sending a ping from one workstation
to another. you must configure firewall access policies to allow ICMP echo
messages before you can use ping messages.
To check the module’s connectivity, you must complete the following tasks:
■ Configure firewall access policies to allow ICMP echo messages
■ Send a ping from the TMS zl Module to an endpoint
Configure Firewall Access Policies to Allow ICMP
Messages
To allow the TMS zl Module to send a ping to devices in non-management-
access zones, the TMS zl Module requires an access policy to permit the pings.
Before you can configure the policy, you must decide to which zone you are
sending the ping. To configure the appropriate firewall access policy, complete
the following steps:
1. Click Firewall > Access Policies > Unicast.
2. From the User Group list, select None.
3. Click Add a Policy.
4. From the Action list, select Permit Traffic.
5. From the From list, select SELF.
6. From the To list, select the zone to which you are sending the ping.
7. For Service, do the following:
a. click Options then select Enter custom Protocol/Port.
b. For Protocol, select (1) ICMP.
c. For Ty pe , select Echo.
8. From the Source list, select Any Address.
9. From the Destination list, select Any Address.
