Connection Timeouts
■ Trust level
Long, intermittent idle times may be common among some trusted users.
Imposing a timeout limit could hamper their productivity. Nonetheless,
setting a long timeout for all users is a considerable security risk and can
drain network resources.
■ Risk tolerance
Timeout settings are proportional to risk tolerance. They should increase
as risk tolerance increases. For example, a network with low risk toler-
ance should have short timeout values.
Configure Timeout Settings for Sessions
To configure the timeout settings, complete the following steps:
1. Click Firewall > Settings and click the Connection Timeouts tab. The Connec-
tion Timeouts window is displayed.

2. To modify a default timeout, type the number of seconds in the appropri-
ate field.
3. To modify a custom timeout, click the edit icon, type the new number of
seconds, and click OK.
