Getting Started
Initial Configuration
■ Install the product license key on the TMS zl module.
For step-by-step instructions, see “Install the Product License Key” on
page 2-7.
Obtain the Product Registration ID and the Activation
Hardware ID
To register the TMS zl module, obtain the following two IDs that are needed
to complete the process successfully:
■ Product registration ID
■ Activation hardware ID
Product Registration ID. The TMS zl module ships with an HP ProCurve
Threat Management Services zl Module Registration and Licensing Card in
the box. A product registration ID is printed on the front of this card. Save this
card since the product registration ID is needed to register the TMS zl module.
Activation Hardware ID. The TMS zl module has two hardware IDs, as
shown in Table 2-1.

The activation hardware ID is needed to activate the TMS zl module.
The TMS-subscription hardware ID is needed to register the IDS/IPS signature
subscription (if you have purchased one). (Instructions for registering the IDS/
IPS signature subscription are provided after these instructions for activating
the TMS zl module. See “Register the IDS/IPS Signature Subscription” on page
2-8.)
1. Access the host switch’s CLI.
2. From the host switch’s manager-level context, enter the TMS zl module’s
Service OS context. For a module installed in switch slot ‘C’, enter:
hostswitch# services c 1
3. Obtain and record the activation hardware ID of the module:
hostswitch(services-module-C:HD)# licenses hardware-id activation
Hardware ID Purpose
Activation hardware ID Used to register the TMS zl module and generate a
product license key
TMS-subscription hardware ID Used to register an IDS/IPS signature subscription (if you
have purchased a subscription)
