Clarifications
For more information, the updated Management and Configuration Guide for the HP ProCurve
Threat Management Services zl Module on the ProCurve Web site contains an example of setting up
a custom policy using the wizard. This example shows the attributes that the TMS zl Module supports.
Any non-supported policy attributes must be removed before a policy can be used with the TMS zl
Module.
Application Layer Gateways (ALGs)
If you upgrade from ST.1.0 to ST.1.1, your ALG settings are retained. However, if you uninstall ST.1.0
and then install ST.1.1 (a clean install), the ALGs will default to only FTP enabled. In addition, after
the upgrade, a restore to factory default (erase start-up-config) also results in only the FTP ALG being
enabled. New units shipped with ST.1.1 installed have only the FTP ALG enabled.
Because ST.1.0 shipped with all ALGs enabled, that setting will be propagated to ST.1.1 during an
upgrade if the administrator has not disabled any of them. In most cases, the ALGs were not being
used and were taking up system resources. We strongly recommend as a best practice that the
administrator review ALG settings and disable any that are not needed. Enabling ALGs should be
done manually by an administrator only after careful consideration.
You can check ALG status using the Web browser interface or the TMS zl Module CLI.
