Introduction
This Getting Started Guide supports the following ProCurve xl Modules:
■ ProCurve Wireless Edge Services xl Module (J9001A).
■ ProCurve Redundant Wireless Edge Services xl Module (J9003A).
The ProCurve Wireless Edge Services xl Module (Module) enables a ProCurve
Switch 5300xl Series to operate with ProCurve Radio Ports as a centrally-
administered wireless LAN (WLAN) system. Installing this Module in a
ProCurve Switch 5300xl results in a wireless services-enabled switch, capable
of managing ProCurve Radio Ports to deliver 802.11 wireless access to
stations.
A ProCurve Redundant Wireless Services xl Module provides failover or high
availability options for a ProCurve Module within a wireless LAN system.
The illustration below shows a typical wireless LAN system built using a
wireless services-enabled ProCurve 5300xl series switch and ProCurve Radio
Ports.
