Configuring the ProCurve Wireless Edge Services zl Module
Enabling Secure Network Time Protocol (NTP)
Figure 2-98. Special Features > Secure NTP > NTP Associations Screen
The screen includes the following fields:
■ Address—the numeric IP address of the resource providing NTP updates
to the switch
Typically, the NTP system is a peer or server that you have configured as
your Wireless Edge Services zl Module’s neighbor. If you have enabled the
module to act as the master clock, one of the resources is the module’s
internal clock at 127.127.1.0.
■ Reference—the timestamp at which the local clock was last set or cor-
rected
■ Stratum—how many hops the Wireless Edge Services zl Module is from an
NTP time source. The module automatically chooses the NTP resource
with the lowest stratum number. However, it also compares the time
reported by several sources and does not synchronize to a time source
whose time is significantly different than others, even if its stratum is
lower. That is, the module never synchronizes to a machine that is not
synchronized itself.
