Radio Port Configuration
Configuring WMM
The ProCurve 210, 220, and 230 RPs include default WMM parameters that will
work for nearly all applications. (The parameters are such, for example, that
voice frames more quickly and more often win access to the medium.)
Note Because the module automatically defines settings such that traffic in a higher-
priority queue receives lower latency, the default radio WMM settings are
usually adequate. Incorrect settings can adversely affect network perfor-
mance; ProCurve Networking strongly recommends that you do not change
these parameters.
Like other settings for radio configurations, you can alter:
the WMM queue parameters that the Wireless Edge Services xl Module
sends to newly adopted radios
the parameters used by particular radios
Follow these steps:
1. Choose whether you are configuring queue parameters for any newly
adopted radio or for a particular radio:
To configure settings for any newly adopted radio, select Network
Setup > Radio Adoption Defaults.
To configure settings for particular radios, select Network Setup >
Radio.
2. Click the WMM tab, which brings up a list of the queues. (See Figure 5-17.)
For the radio adoption default configurations, queues are listed by radio
type and access category—for example, 802.11a and Background.
If you are configuring WMM settings for particular radios, queues are
indexed according to radio number and queue number. For example, the
Voice queue for radio 1 would be indexed 1/4.
3. To change the parameters for a particular queue, select that queue.
4. Click the Edit button. This brings up the Edit WMM screen.
