Introduction
ProCurve Wireless Edge Services xl Module
Note It is possible to configure both the primary and the redundant module as active
members of the group. Because only one module adopts any given RP, the two
balance RPs between them as described in Chapter 4: Redundancy Groups.
However, because stations cannot fast roam between RPs adopted by two
different modules, ProCurve Networking generally recommends that the
redundant module be used only to back up the primary.
The redundant module is authorized to adopt up to the maximum number of
RPs on the primary module’s license. If both modules in a redundancy group
are currently adopting RPs, then the total number adopted by the group cannot
exceed the license authorization level.
Remember that the redundant module supports all the same services as the
primary module, so you must configure the same wireless settings on the two.
A simple way to ensure successful failover is to upload the primary module’s
configuration onto the redundant module, edit the configuration with module-
specific settings (such as IP address and redundancy group settings), and then
save it to the redundant module’s startup-config.
See Chapter 4: Redundancy Configuration for instructions on configuring
redundancy groups.
