Configuring the GbE Interconnect Switch using the Web-based Interface
Ingress filtering is used to conserve bandwidth within the interconnect switch by dropping
packets that are not on the same VLAN as the ingress port at the point of reception. This
eliminates the subsequent processing of packets that will just be dropped by the destination
port.
To set the port VLAN ID (PVID) and enable GVRP for a port:
1. Select Port VLAN ID (PVID) from the VLANs menu. The following screen is
displayed.
The 802.1Q Port Settings window allows you to assign a Port VLAN ID (PVID)
number, enable or disable the ingress filtering check, and enable or disable GVRP for
individual ports. Ingress filtering means that a receiving port will check to see if the port
is a member of the VLAN ID in the packet before forwarding the packet.
