Data security technology with the Trusted Platform Module
The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a hardware-based system security
information such as passwords and encryption keys to authenticate the platform. Administrators can
also use TPM to store platform measurements that help ensure that the platform remains trustworthy.
module attaches and secures the module to the system board. To prevent possible damage to the TPM
module or to the system board, the TPM cannot be removed from the board once it has been
installed.
For additional information about the TPM, see the HP technology brief titled “Data security in HP
ProLiant servers using the Trusted Platform Module and Microsoft® Windows® BitLocker™ Drive Encryption”:

With the TPM and a future firmware upgrade, ProLiant G7 servers will support Intel Trusted Execu
Technology (TXT). Intel TXT complements anti-virus software and increases protection against malicious
software attacks aimed at the hypervisor, BIOS, and firmware.
