This chapter provides an overview of some of the compo n ents that make up the storage structure of
theHPProLiantDataProtectionStorageServer.
Storage management elements
Storage is divided into four major divisions:
• Physical storage elements
• Logical stora
ge elements
• File system elem ents
• File sharing elements
Each of these elements is composed of the previous level’s elements.
Storage manag ement example
Figure 12 depicts many of the storage elements that one would find on a storage device. The following
sections provide an ov erview of the storage elements.
