About SAAP
SAAP is a collection of additional and advanced controller features embedded in the firmware of select
Smart Array controllers.
To access SAAP features, activate the software with a registered license key.
SAAP 1.0 provides the following features for HP Smart Array G6 and G7 controllers:
• RAID 6 (ADG)
• RAID 60
• Advanced Capacity Expansion
• Mirror splitting and recombining in offline mode
• Physical Drive Erase
• Performance optimization for video on demand
• Dual domain
To access SAAP features for HP Smart Array G6 and G7 controllers, you must purchase a license key from
HP. To obtain a license key, see the SAAP product page on the HP website (http://www.hp.com/go/SAAP).
To install the license key and activate SAAP, use one of the following methods:
• Installing a license key with ACU (on page 33)
• Installing a license key with ACU CLI ("Entering or deleting a license key" on page 54)
• Installing a license key with ACU Scripting ("LicenseKey, DeleteLicenseKey" on page 74)
Some SAAP features are required for advanced configuration tasks in ACU. For a list of these tasks, see
"Support for advanced configuration tasks (on page 6)."
Required hardware
For a list of Smart Array controllers that support SAAP, see the SAAP product page on the HP website
(http://www.hp.com/go/SAAP).
To support some controller features, the controller may also require a hardware configuration that includes
the following cache (array accelerator) options:
• A cache module that is 256 MiB or larger
• A compatible battery pack or capacitor pack
