3.7.0 HP StorageWorks MxDB-Oracle-HiAv installation and administration guide HP MxDB-Oracle-HiAv for Linux (AG513-96009, June 2009)

MxDB-Oracle-HiAv requires that Oracle databases under its control share Oracle
home and datafiles in the cluster. As a prerequisite to creating a shared oracle
home, as described under Installation steps, below, download a supported
version of the Oracle installation software onto at least one cluster node.
Installation steps
After HP Scalable NAS has been installed, complete the following steps to install
Oracle and MxDB-Oracle-HiAv. Each step is described in detail later in this section.
1. Create PSFS filesystems for Oracle (a regular PSFS filesystem for $ORACLE_HOME
and at least one dboptimized PSFS filesystem for $ORACLE_BASE/oradata).
The filesystem for $ORACLE_BASE must be mounted on all cluster servers that
will support databases under MxDB-Oracle-HiAv control. For Optimal Flexible
Architecture (OFA) compliance, create a soft link from $ORACLE_BASE/oradata
to the dboptimized PSFS filesystem.
2. Install a supported version of Oracle into the regular PSFS filesystem just created.
3. Set up a /root/.matrixrc file on each node.
4. Perform network configuration for Virtual Oracle Services to create the virtual
IP addresses.
5. Install MxDB-Oracle-HiAv.
6. Assign Oracle DBAs to the HP Scalable NAS read-only security role if they will
need to view Oracle Virtual Server status via the HP Scalable NAS Management
Console.
7. Configure existing Oracle databases to be under the control of
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv. A practice database called PILOT is provided for self-training.
1. Create PSFS Filesystems
The PSFS filesystem supports a specialized mount option called DBOPTIMIZE that
enables direct I/O. HP highly recommends that all database files (such as datafiles,
online redo logs, control files, archived redo logs) be stored in filesystems mounted
with the DBOPTIMIZE mount option. (See Configure PSFS Filesystems in the HP
Scalable NAS File Serving software administration guide for details about creating
and mounting filesystems.)
However, the Oracle product ($ORACLE_HOME) must be installed into a shared
standard-mounted PSFS filesystem. The following example shows a $ORACLE_BASE
at the common OFA location of /u01/app/oracle, which is located on the psd4p1
