3.7.0 HP StorageWorks MxDB-Oracle-HiAv installation and administration guide HP MxDB-Oracle-HiAv for Linux (AG513-96009, June 2009)

Oracle Service before you place your database under the control of
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv.
NOTE:
For testing purposes, it is sufficient to simply define the Virtual Oracle Service in the
/etc/hosts file on each node in the cluster.
To verify that your DNS entry is correct before you create the Virtual Oracle Service,
run the ping(8) command. Provided that the DNS entry is valid, the ping command
will return the IP address assigned to it in DNS. For example:
[root@tmr6s18 ~]# ping PROD.customer.com
PING PROD.customer.com (10.10.60.82) 56(84) bytes of data.
From tm.pdx.com (10.10.60.18) icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
The ping command reports that PROD.customer.com has IP address 10.10.60.82
and that the host is unreachable, which is acceptable because the Virtual Oracle
Service has not yet been created.
5. Install MxDB-Oracle-HiAv
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv must be installed on each node in the cluster. It can be installed
from either the product CD or the location where you have downloaded the software.
Issue the following command as user root:
# rpm -ivh <mountpt>/mxdb_oracle_ha-3.7.0-<xxxx>.x86_64.rpm
For those databases that will be under the control of MxDB-Oracle-HiAv, adjust any
/etc/oratab entries so that Oracle will not restart the database upon boot.
MXDB-Oracle-HiAv will take care of that. Root access is needed to create this file.
The oracle user can modify it.
6. Assign Oracle DBAs to the read-only role
HP Scalable NAS uses Role-Based-Security to grant (or deny) users and groups the
ability to perform specific cluster operations. If Oracle DBAs will need to view Oracle
Virtual Server status and alerts via the HP Scalable NAS Management Console,
assign them to the HP Scalable NAS read-only security role. For more information,
see Chapter 12, Configure Security Features, in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving
Software administration guide.
