3 Configuration and Operations
Management applications
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv provides the following management applications:
• MxDB-Oracle-HiAv Graphical User Interface. The GUI supports both configuration
and operations. The GUI also supports the creation of a demonstration database
for self-training.
• MxDB-Oracle Command Line Interface. The CLI command, mxdb, supports oper-
ations but cannot be used to configure Virtual Oracle Services.
• You need to be connected as the oracle user (e.g., “ oracle”) to use either the GUI
or the CLI.
NOTE:
Configuration and operations against a database managed with MxDB-Oracle-HiAv
must be executed via the MxDB-Oracle-HiAv GUI or the CLI mxdb command. The
HP Scalable NAS Management Console should be used only for read-only operations
such as viewing status or alerts.
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv GUI
The GUI is the central administration point for MxDB-Oracle-HiAv and can be used
for both configuration and operations.
Configuration
The GUI supports the following configuration actions:
• Creating a Virtual Oracle Service for an existing production database.
• Creating the demonstration database and the associated Virtual Oracle Service.
During configuration, the GUI does the following:
