3.7.0 HP StorageWorks MxDB-Oracle-HiAv installation and administration guide HP MxDB-Oracle-HiAv for Linux (AG513-96009, June 2009)

ProcedureOption
Start or stop Maintenance Mode.-M [start|stop]
Add servers to a Virtual Oracle Service. The option is a list of quoted,
colon-delimited IP addresses.
-a "IP:IP:IP"
Modify the host roles for the Virtual Oracle Service and if possible (or
necessary) move the service to the new primary node. The option is a
quoted list of IP addresses that represent the Primary, 1st Backup, 2nd
Backup, and so on. After the change of a node to the role of Primary, if
the database is active on another machine, this command will result in a
shutdown of the database and then a restart of the database on the new
primary node.
-m "IP:IP:IP:IP"
Clear events raised on a Virtual Oracle Service. Should a node crash, HP
Scalable NAS will raise events so that the DBA can take action before
returning the Virtual Oracle Service to the failed node.
-C
Multiple Oracle homes
The GUI and CLI can perform operations on any Oracle Home for either Oracle11g
or Oracle10g. The oracle user can login, execute the GUI, and select an Oracle11g
or Oracle10g home to perform operations on without care for environment variables.
With the mxdb command, the -d option can be used to operate on any database
in the system as long as the user executing the command is in the dba group and
ORACLE_HOME is set to the directory associated with the database you are
managing.
Server failover
The behavior of Virtual Oracle Servers differs from other virtual hosts in one important
area: when a primary server fails or is taken out of service, its backup server becomes
the primary server.
Custom Virtual Oracle Service start/stop and probe
scripts
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv ships with default probe, start and stop scripts that generally
suffice for production usage. However, Oracle is a complex product and Oracle IT
