3.7.0 HP StorageWorks MxDB-Oracle-HiAv installation and administration guide HP MxDB-Oracle-HiAv for Linux (AG513-96009, June 2009)

2. Activate dbconsole on the server using the emctl command:
emctl start dbconsole
Access dbconsole via a browser
Using the URL and port number returned when the OEM dbconsole repository was
created, connect to dbconsole. After agreeing with the disclaimer page, log into
the database using one of the dbconsole users (sysman, dbsnmp).
NOTE:
Version 6.0 of Internet Explorer (IE) does not work properly with Oracle Enterprise
Manager 10g in the environments tested while developing this methodology. IE will
work if the Enhanced Security Option is configured appropriately. Netscape 8.x
and Firefox were used successfully as a viewer for dbconsole.
Assuming the database is not in production, it is a good idea to test dbconsole
after rehosting the database on a backup server. After verifying that the database is
up on a backup server, attempt to reconnect using the same URL.
Troubleshooting
Note the following:
The ORACLE_HOSTNAME parameter must always be set before running the
emctl command line utility.
If you need to install software (yast, for example) on the primary server to support
Oracle dbconsole, remember to also install it on the other servers. Otherwise,
the dbconsole features depending on that software will not be available if you
transition activity to the other server.
If a server node reboots, remember to reactivate dbconsole.
If the time zones of the nodes must be changed or if they were not set properly
at initial OEM configuration, use the following command to reset the time zone
and restart the dbconsole service.
emctl resetTZ agent
The PORT that OEM is using should be the same on each node. Otherwise access
to the console will depend on the physical host. If the ports are different, the fol-
lowing command can be used to synchronize them:
