3.7.0 HP StorageWorks MxDB-Oracle-HiAv installation and administration guide HP MxDB-Oracle-HiAv for Linux (AG513-96009, June 2009)

ACLE_BASE|$ORACLE_HOME]/oradata to an oradata subdirectory on this
dboptimized filesystem. See 1. Create PSFS Filesystems , page 14.
Responsibility: System administrator with root privileges
5. Ensure that each node has a .matrixrc file for root. On each node, the file
must contain an entry corresponding to that node (for example, tmr13 root
password exists in the .matrixrc file on node tmr13.) See 3. Set up .matrixrc
files, page 17.
Responsibility: System administrator with root privileges
6. Verify that the Virtual IP address and vhost name and domain are defined for
and recognized by all nodes included in the configuration of the Virtual Oracle
Service, either via a DNS entry or in /etc/hosts. Verify on all nodes that the
virtual host name and domain are resolving (use ping to see the IP address,
but do not expect it to reply yet). See 4. Perform network configuration for Virtual
Oracle Services, page 18.
Responsibility: System administrator with root privileges
7. Verify that the MxDB-Oracle-HiAv RPM has been successfully installed on all
nodes. For example, run rpm qa|grep mxdb_oracle_ha on each node
and ensure that the MxDB-Oracle-HiAv package appears. See 5. Install MxDB-
Oracle-HiAv, page 19.
Responsibility: System administrator with root privileges
8. Be sure that files and parameter settings required on the Oracle server are
propagated to other servers. See 2. Install Oracle, page 16, for suggestions.
Responsibility: Both system administrator with root privileges and Oracle DBA
9. Determine whether you want to manage the listener.ora and tns-
names.ora files with the MxDB-Oracle-HiAv GUI or with Oracle tools. If the
text # Generated by Oracle configuration tools appears in these files, it indic-
ates you are managing them with Oracle tools. You will not be able to use the
GUI to manage these files. If these files are not located in the default location
($ORACLE_HOME/network/admin), you will need to set up $TNS_ADMIN in
your environment to be the path to these files. See Place databases under MxDB-
Oracle-HiAv control, page 25.
Responsibility: Oracle DBA
10. Determine if you need to change any of the defaults (Log location, Listener
password, Probe Core Timeout). If so, create a mxdbha_<DBNAME>.conf file
in ${ORACLE_HOME}/conf. See MxDB-Oracle-HiAv configuration file, page 23.
Responsibility: Oracle DBA
