2. Set Up the DNS Hostname
EachserverrunningHPClusteredFileSystemmustbeabletoresolveits
hostnameinDNS.HPClusteredFileSystemusesthefirstaddress
returnedbyDNSastheserversnameinthecluster.
WhenconfiguringDNS,keepthefollowingguidelinesinmind:
•Ifyouhavemultiplepublicnetworksacrossthecluster,
onlyoneof
theinterfacesshouldberegisteredinDNS,andallnodesneedtobe
registeredonthesamenetwork.
•DonotlistanyDNSserversfortheprivate(nonroutedornonclient
reachable)NICs.FortheprivateNICsandanyotherpublicNICs,
unchecktheconfigurationoptionto
“registerthisconnection’s
addressesinDNS.”
•IfyouareusingdynamicDNS,werecommendthatyouchooseone
publicNICtosetupasaDNSclient.ThenlisttheDNSserver(s)inthe
configurationforthisNIC.(StaticDNSentriesmaybepreferableto
dynamicDNS.)
•Ifyouareusing
DHCP, be suretouseDHCPreservationssothatthe
servers’IPaddresseswillnotchangeovertime.
•IfyouareusingDHCP,theDNSandhostnamewillbesetupcorrectly
ifDHCPhasbeenconfiguredtodothis.
IfyouarenotusingdynamicDNSorDHCP,youcanuse
staticentriesto
setupDNS.Useoneofthefollowingmethodstosetupthehostnameon
eachserver:
•SetupaDNSsuffix.SelectMyComputer >Properties>Network
Identification>Properties.OntheIdentificationChangeswindow,
selectMore.Then,ontheDNSSuffixandNetBIOSComputerName
window,typethefullyqualifieddomainnameasthe“PrimaryDNS
suffixofthiscomputer.”
•Addtheservertothesuffixsearchlist.SelectSettings>ControlPanel
>NetworkandDialUpConnections.Thenselectanynetwork
connection.OntheLocalAreaConnectionPropertieswindow,select
InternetProtocol(TCP/IP)
andclickProperties.OntheInternet
