Forsitesusingfabricfencing,theFibreChannelswitchesmustbe
configuredasdescribedbelowtoenableclusteroperationsacrossthe
SAN.
ConfiguringtheFibreChannelswitchesisnotrequiredforsitesusing
serverbasedfencing.However,iftheswitchesare
configuredas
describedhere,certainHPClusteredFileSystemcommandscanreturn
moreinformation.
ToconfigureFibreChannelswitches,completethefollowingtasks:
•EnableserveraccesstotheSAN.Eachserverthatwillbeinthecluster
mustbeabletoaccessthedisksintheSAN.Youmayneedtoenable
server
portsontheFCswitchesortochangethezoningconfiguration
togiveserversthenecessaryaccesstotheSAN.
•ModifytheSNMPsetup.Makethefollowingchanges:
–EnableaccesstotheSNMPagentfromeach serverthatwillbein
thecluster.
–SettheSNMPcomm unitystringtothedesiredvalue.
The
communitystringmustbethesameforallFibreChannelswitches.
Ifyouareusingfabricfencing,ensurethatthecommunitystring
haswriteprivileges.Forserverbasedfencing,youcanoptionally
configureareadonlycommunitystring.
–OnBrocadeswitchesonly,runthesnmpMibCapSetcommandon
theswitch.Change
thefamibsettingtoyesandacceptthedefault
valuesfortheothersettings.
•ForMcDATAswitches,domainwideRSCNsshouldbedisabled.
•Iftheserversareconnectedtoswitchesinmultiplefabrics,the
physicalportsoneachswitchmustbeassignedtouniquedomainIDs.
AdifferentdomainIDmustbe
usedoneachfabric(anygivendomain
IDcanexistononlyonefabricintheSAN).Forexample,ifaserveris
connectedtotwoswitchesthatarenotinthesamefabric,switch1
couldusedomainID6andswitch2couldusedomainID7.Domain
