Monitoring Cluster Operation
Tools Overview
Several tools exist to monitor the operation of your cluster. Use the tools to
regularly monitor the operation of each node and each Oracle instance. The
gathered information might identify a disparity in the workload being
performed by each node, which signifies a need to adjust the distribution of the
workload so that the overall cluster performance is maximized.
■ Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq Insight Manager XE can be used
to gather low-level, in-depth hardware statistics for the server and
networking hardware components used in the cluster.
■ Windows 2000 Performance Monitor gathers performance
characteristics of many objects. Examples of monitored objects are
memory, processor, hard drive performance, network software, and
application software.
■ Oracle8i Performance Manager captures, computes, and presents
performance data about the Oracle database. Specific data about
Oracle8i Parallel Server metrics are monitored and viewed with this
application.
