HP UEFI Requirements
The HP ProLiant DL580 Gen8 Server supports both Legacy BIOS Boot Mode
(default) and UEFI Boot Mode. This is configured via the Boot Mode setting in HP
UEFI System Utilities. When the server is configured for UEFI Boot Mode,
observe the following requirements:
If Microsoft Windows 2008 SP2 or Windows 2008 SP1 is used in UEFI
Boot Mode, UEFI Optimized Mode must be disabled (this option is enabled
by default). This is required to work around an issue in Windows 2008 /
2008 R2 that requires legacy BIOS components necessary for video
operations in Windows operating systems.
The following supported 12 Gb/s capable HP Smart Array controllers must
have Firmware/Option ROM version 1.50 or later installed before they
can be used in the server. Before installing the operating system, use HP
Service ProLiant Pack version 2014.02.0 or later in Offline mode to
upgrade the firmware to the latest version.
For more information on supported options, see the server QuickSpecs on
the HP website
(http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/14885_div/148
85_div.html).
For more information on the latest firmware and driver versions, see the HP
website (http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc).
CAUTION: Install only supported controllers. Other
controllers do not function in this server.

When the server is configured for UEFI Boot Mode, PXE servers must be
configured with a UEFI boot image.
When the server boots in UEFI mode, it does not boot media with a legacy
OS installation. This includes DOS targets and Windows or Linux systems
installed in Legacy mode. The reverse is also true for servers that boot in
Legacy mode.
If the default boot mode settings are different than the user defined settings,
the system may not boot the OS installation if the defaults are restored. To
