Warning message
An HP ProLiant DL980 G7 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (x86_64) or SUSE Enterprise
Linux 11 (x86_64) will display the following warning messages in dmesg log:
ACPI Warning: Invalid length for Pm1aControlBlock: 32, using default 16 (20090903/tbfadt-607)
The ACPI Warning: Invalid length for Pm1aControlBlock : messages are benign and can be safely
ignored. They do not result in performance loss or negatively affect the operation of the system.
Starting with kernel version 2.6.31.13, the setup the FADT registers from ACPI table function is
added to check for length and width of length variable. For Pm1aControlBlock, Linux prefers the
default length of two bytes where the HP ProLiant DL980 G7 server sets it as four bytes. Linux will
set it to two bytes after reporting the above warning message.
