HP ProLiant ML310 G3 Storage Server Administration Guide (WSS R2 version, March 2006)

A NIC teaming
Teaming enables the logical grouping of physical adapters in the same server (regard less of whether
they are embedded devices or Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) adapters) into a virtual adapter.
This virtual adapter is seen by the network and server-resident network-aware applications as a single
network connection.
HP Network Tea
ming and Conguration utility
Some models of
the HP ProLiant Storage Server are equ ipped with the HP N et work Teaming and
Conguratio
n utility. The utility allows administrators to congure and monitor Ethernet network interface
controller (
NIC) teams in a Windows-based operating system. These teams provide options for increasing
fault toler
ance and throughput.
Fault toler
ance provides automatic redundancy. If the primary N IC fails, the secondar y NIC takes over.
Load Balancing provides the ability to balance transmissions across NICs.
NOTE:
Select models ship with the NIC teaming utility available; however, it must be installed and congured.
NOTE:
Installing NIC teaming requir es a restart of the server.
