Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4. Unlock and open the tower bezel ("Unlock the tower bezel" on page 26).
5. Remove the drive.
6. Remove the drive from the carrier.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Hot-plug drive
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
To remove the component:
1. Back up all server data on the drive.
2. Determine the status of the drive from the drive LED definitions ("Hot-plug drive LED definitions" on page
71).
3. Unlock and open the tower bezel ("Unlock the tower bezel" on page 26).
