Description
These release notes discuss issues and their potential workarounds, as well as special information
regarding HP Intelligent Provisioning.
HP Intelligent Provisioning is a feature of the HP iLO Management Engine and offers the ability for
out-of-the-box single-server deployment and configuration without the need for media.
Intelligent Provisioning provides enhanced server configuration and provisioning assistance, following
SmartStart version 8.70. With Intelligent Provisioning, the software is embedded on the server, rather
than on a CD.

Product models
HP Intelligent Provisioning supports HP ProLiant Gen8 servers.
HP ProLiant SL230 and ProLiant SL250 servers do not support OS installations with Intelligent
Provisioning. These servers currently support the maintenance features described in the Perform
Maintenance Options section of the HP Intelligent Provisioning User Guide and online help.
Operating systems and devices
Supported operating systems and devices are listed in the support matrix for the server. Any differences
and the components supported for each server are listed in the HP Intelligent Provisioning 1.00 Server
Support Guide.
NOTE: Intelligent Provisioning does not support all server-supported operating systems, including
Windows 2003 and 32-bit Windows operating systems.
HP NC544a, Mellanox CX-3 10Gb 2-port IB/NIC, Gen8 ALOM is not a supported device for SPP
2012.02.0. FTP cannot be used to install Windows 2008 R2 SP1 on a Gen8 with a HP NC544a,
Mellanox CX-3 10Gb 2-port IB/NIC, Gen8 ALOM.

Provisioning 1.00 Server Support Guide.
Installation and upgrade prerequisites are documented in the HP Intelligent Provisioning User
Guide.
NOTE: Intelligent Provisioning does not support source media from an FTP server when using a proxy
to connect.
Installation instructions
ProLiant Gen8 servers are pre-loaded with a basic set of firmware and operating system components
that are installed with Intelligent Provisioning. Once the server is running, use the Intelligent Provisioning
Firmware Update utility to update any components that have been outdated since the server was
manufactured.
