The 300 series of diagnostic error codes identifies failures with keyboard and system board
functions.

301-xx Keyboard short test, 8042 self-test
failed.
302-xx Keyboard long test failed.
303-xx Keyboard LED test, 8042 self-test
failed.
304-xx Keyboard typematic test failed.
1. Check the keyboard connection. If disconnected,
turn off the computer, connect the keyboard, turn
on the power, and retest.
2. Replace the keyboard and retest.
3. Replace the system board and retest.
400–499, Parallel Printer Test Error Codes
The 400 series of diagnostic error codes identifies failures with the parallel printer interface or
system board functions.

1. Connect the printer and retest.

3. Install the loopback connector and retest.
4. Check the switch on the serial/parallel interface
board (if applicable) and retest.
5. Replace the serial/parallel interface board
(if applicable) and retest.
6. Replace the system board and retest.
