Version: 1.40 Description Embedded in all HP ProLiant Gen8 servers, Intelligent Provisioning is one of the management features of the HP iLO Management Engine. Intelligent Provisioning is a single-server deployment tool that installs the operating system, supplying most of drivers required for that operating system in a wizard-style format. Intelligent Provisioning replaces and improves upon the SmartStart CDs and Smart Update Firmware DVD that were used with previous generation HP ProLiant servers.

Known issues and suggested actions HP strongly recommends that the resolutions listed in this document be applied accordingly to instructions in the resolution documents. Failure to do so might result in issues that can cause disruption to the operation and functionality of HP ProLiant servers. This list is updated as new issues are discovered and resolved.
• If you attempt to deploy an OS on a server with no installed drives, the server reboots, and, after POST, a page is displayed indicating that the settings are being applied. However, the deployment does not proceed and returns to the Home page without displaying any errors. Suggested action: Install drives and redeploy the OS. • If hard drives are not installed or if the arrays are not configured, OS installation through Deployment Settings does not complete.
• When the selected OS family does not match with the media, no error message is generated. Suggested action: Confirm that the correct OS family and media type are selected for Recommended or Custom installations, and that the correspondingly correct OS media is available. • An undefined error message is displayed if you enter alphabetic characters in the Advanced Network Settings fields in the iLO configuration utility. Suggested action: Be sure to enter only numeric values for IP addresses.
• When saving ACU logs, if the iLO LUN partition is selected, the logs are not accessible. Suggested action: Do not save logs to this partition. • For Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V installations, the installation fails if the Windows standard option is selected in the OS Information screen. Suggested action: When installing Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, be sure to select the Windows Hyper-V option as the OS in the OS Information screen.
Linux-specific issues • If SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 is updated using the base operating system image in Intelligent Provisioning, the connected operating system media will be scanned as Valid media, but after booting connected media hard disk will not be detected. Suggested action: When installing SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1 via Intelligent Provisioning, a kISO (kernel update ISO) must be used. VMware-specific issues • After installing VMware ESXi 4.
