IMPORTANT: If the heatsink has been removed for any reason on a previously installed processor, it
is critical that you clean off any residue of the old thermal compound from both the heatsink and
processor with alcohol and a clean cloth and apply more thermal interface material to the
integrated heat spreader on the processor to ensure proper thermal bonding between the processor
and the heatsink.
To remove a processor:
1. Open the processor locking lever and the processor socket retaining bracket.

2. Using the processor removal tool, remove the processor from the system board:
a. Line up the processor tool, ensuring the locking lever graphic on the tool is correctly oriented.
b. Press in on the plastic tabs, and then place the tool on the processor.
c. Release the tabs, and then carefully lift the processor and tool straight up.
