Changes in USB HID (keyboard/mouse) Device Special Files for HP-UX 11iv3 using PHKL_37815
Overview The device special file (DSF) names for USB human interface devices (HID) on HP-UX 11iv3 changed with the release of PHKL_37815. USB HID devices include keyboards and mice. Rationale In versions of the USB driver prior to PHKL_37815, the DSF for a USB could change while the system was booted if another USB device was attached or removed. With PHKL_37815, DSFs will remain consistent as long as the system is booted.
Note that nnn is the three digit instance number for the device. keyboards and mice are not differentiated in their DSF naming. Instead, the output of "ioscan -funC hid" clearly specifies the category of HID devices associated with each DSF. In the following output, hid_000 and hid_002 are USB keyboards. hid_001 is a USB boot protocol mouse. hid_003 is a USB mouse which does not support boot protocol. hid_004 is a USB HID device other than a mouse or keyboard.
