Cache related re
gistry settings
For [HKLM\Software\Hewlett-Packard\Outlook PlugIn\Cache]:
AttachmentsOnly=True: Indicates whether the O fine Cache Manager should cache only
thosearchivedmessagesthatcontainoneormoreattachments.ThedefaultisTrue. Changing
this to False causes the Ofine Cache Manager to cache all messages, whether or not
attachment(s) exist. This is a user-congurable setting.
EncryptCache
=True:Encryptsles in the ofine cache location using Microsoft’s Encr ypting
File System (
EFS). The default is True. Depending on the computer’s security settings, only the
current user
can read les stored in the ofine cache. Depending on the Folder options on the
user’s comp
uter, les may appear as green in Windows Explorer. This is a user-congurable
setting.
NOTE:
Archived messages will only be stored encrypted in the ofine cache if EFS is properly congured on
the client. If you want to implement this option, consult Microsoft’s documentation for information on
conguring EFS.
Location=:Folderinwhichtheofine cache is located. Cached les are then
stored in this location according to the current Outlook prole. The administrator
should not assign a value to this registry value in HKLM. It is initialized in HKCU to
\Documents and Settings\CurrentUser\Local Settings\Application
Data\Hewlett-Packard\Cache upon rst execution for a user. This is a read-only setting.
MaxDays=30: Maximum number of days archived messages are c ontained within the ofine
cache. This is based on the received date of the message, not the date it was archived or
tombstoned. The Ofine Cache Manager retrieves and caches any archived m essage where the
received date is more recent than the number of days specied. Note that the MaxSize setting
takes precedence over the MaxDays setting. Setting MaxDays to 0 causes all archived messages
that can be contained by the MaxSize setting to be cached regardless of the received date.
This is a user-congurable set ting.
MaxSize=100:Size,inmegabytes,oftheofine cache folder. If this size is exc ee ded, the
cached .eml les a re deleted in reverse chronological order until the size of the ofine cache is
once again below the limit specied by this setting. Note that this setting overrides the MaxDays
setting. This is a user-congurable setting.
ScanInterval=15: Number of minutes the Ofine Cache Manager waits before instigating a
scan for new archived messages. The timer for this setting does not b egin until after all queued
retrieval requests are c omplete. Therefore, if the Ofine Cache Manager is busy retrieving
archived messages this setting is inactive. This is a user-congurable setting.
UseCache=True: Indicates whether the plug -in should use the Ofine Cache Manager to cache
messages that have been archived in the RISS. The default is True. Changing this to False
prevents the Ofine Cache Manager from starting and downloading archived messages, and
messages are only cached per O utlook session. This is a user-congurable setting.
CacheEML=False: Used in support of Outlook 2000 when UseCache=True. Setting
CacheEML to True causes the plug-in to retain any .eml le downloaded and stored in the
session cache location when Outlook is exited. This setting is useful in diagnosing retrieval
issues. This is an administrator/diagnostic setting and s ho uld be modied only at the direction of
HP technical support.
CacheMsg=False: Deprecated and is no longer used.
ConnectRetryInterval=5: Number of minutes the Ofine Cache Manager waits before
resuming the retrieval of archived messages after a dropped connection or other network failure
occurs. This is an administrator/diagnostic set ting and s hould be modied only at the direction of
HP technical support.
MaxConnectRetryCount=2: N umber of times the Ofine Cache Manager tries to recover
from a network failure before exiting. This is an administrator/diagnostic setting and should be
modied only at the direction of HP technical support.
