After you enable LDAP for the Dom ino server, clients and LDAP-enabled applications can query the
Domino server and get information about entries in the Domino Directory.
2. Configure journaling. You must con figure all Domino servers that interact with the RISS system for
journaling by the Domino adm inistrator. See the Lotus Notes documentation for more information.
3. Configure Lotus DIRCAT. Your Lotus Notes environment might include Lotus DIRCAT. If your system
does include Lotus DI RCAT, see the Notes Domino do cumentation for information about implementing
this service.
Installing Email Miner for Lotus Notes
The Email Miner for Lotus Notes is an application (miner.nsf) loaded to and signed by the Domino
Servers. Your HP installer performed the initial installation on the H P Gateway server. See "Email Miner
version P2.0 for Lotus Notes installa tion guide" on page 205 for more information.

Improving performance in Domino environments
To save disk space and improve performance, consider the procedures described in this section.
Compacting databases
Save disk space by periodically compacting the database on the gateway server.
To compact the database:
1. In the Administrator client, click the Configuration tab.
2. Click the expansion arrow by Server, then click Programs.
3. Click Add Program.
4. In program name, enter ncom pact.exe.
5. In the command line enter -B.
6. Adjust the schedule as needed.
7. Click Save & Close.
Creating mail.box files
Improve performance by creating four mail.box files on the gateway server.
To create a mail.box fi le:
1. In the A
dministrator client, click the Configuration tab.
2. Click
the expansion arrow by Server, then click Configurations.
3. Open t
he configuration document.
4. Clic
ktheRouter/SMTP tab.
5. Click Edit Server Configuration.
6. In the Numb er of mailboxes field, enter 4.
7. Click Save & Close.
