HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.02 release notes (5697-8024, February 2009)

DPM issues
I/O errors/timeouts when performing failover on large numbers of synchronously mirrored
virtual disks
If there is a heavy load of I/O on a large number of synchronously mirrored virtual disks and an event
occurs that requires a large number of virtual disks to be failed over at the same time (for example,
a reboot of a DPM), it is possible that I/O errors or timeouts may be returned to the hosts. HP
recommends that operations requiring a DPM reboot (for example, a DPM firmware upgrade),
particularly in a large environment, be scheduled for off-hours or during a maintenance window, or
manually fail over each synchronous mirror group, one at a time.
DPM reboot when unpresenting/re-presenting virtual disks
Under certain circumstances, if a virtual disk is unpresented from a host and then re-presented, or a
new virtual disk is created with the same LUN number, then the DPM may unexpectedly reboot. HP
recommends that such operations be scheduled for off-hours or during a maintenance window
DPM reboot when unpresenting/re-presenting back-end virtual disks
Under certain circumstances, if permissions to a back-end virtual disk is removed from the SVSP system
(DPM and VSM), and then permissions are restored, or a new back-end virtual disk is created with
the same LUN number, the DPM may unexpectedly reboot. HP recommends that such operations be
scheduled for off-hours or during a maintenance window.
I/O errors/timeouts when rebooting an EMC Clariion storage processor connected to an
SVSP domain
If one of the storage processors in an EMC Clariion array is rebooted while under load from the SVSP
system, it is possible that I/O errors or timeouts may be returned to the hosts for a brief period (between
when the storage processor is rebooted and the ports of the storage processor are brought offline).
If a storage processor of an EMC Clariion must be rebooted, HP recommends that the ports of the
storage processor are disabled before performing the reboot and then re-enabled after it is back up.
Problems transferring the DPM system image install file using the GUI
Image installation does not work as expected using the DPM GUI. The CLI should be used for image
installation. This issue will be fixed in a future release. HP is working to resolve this issue.
Changes to the Description field in DPM GUI do not take effect after a reboot
Changes made with the DPM GUI to the Description field in the Chassis tab are not persistent across
reboots. Other chassis fields are correctly persisted. The Chassis Description field should be updated
with the DPM CLI. HP is working to resolve this issue.
DPM GUI cannot disable GE1 Ethernet port
An error is returned when attempting to disable an Ethernet port (other than MGMT) with the GUI.
The MGMT port can be modified with the GUI. Use of the non-MGMT Ethernet ports is not supported
