SerialSCSI-00 (sasd) B.11.31.1003 Mass Storage Driver Release Notes, Edition 2 (June 2010)
NOTE: If you remove the dynamically loaded sasd driver while it is in use, or if you remove
the statically loaded sasd driver at any time, you must perform a reboot. This is normal
behavior under these conditions and is not affected by patch PHCO_36356.
• System panic when downgrading the sasd driver.
CAUTION: Installing an older version of the sasd driver downgrades the adapter firmware.
This can cause RAID volumes in the system to become degraded. HP recommends that you
back up important data before downgrading the adapter firmware.
If you install an older version of the sasd driver and version B.11.31.0712 is installed, the
system panics with the following stack trace:
panic: post_hndlr(): Unresolved kernel interruption

This problem happens on HP Integrity rx2600, rx3600, rx6600, BL860c systems, and on rx7640
and rx8640 systems with AH303A adapters installed.
Corrective Action: Reboot the system to recover from the panic.
5 Recommendations
This section provides recommendations for highest performance and reliability.
• Updating Physical Disk Firmware
Consider the following when you use sasmgr(1M) to update the firmware of physical disks
that are part of a RAID volume attached to an HP 8 Internal Port SAS Controller:
— If you are updating the firmware on two or more disks that are part of a RAID volume,
do not issue multiple commands to download simultaneously.
— If the disk firmware download to a disk that is part of a RAID volume fails or is
terminated, reset the controller using the sasmgr(1M) reset command:
sasmgr -f reset -D /dev/sasdX
