Installation
Your HP Server must be powered down and opened to install the SCSI accessory cable. Refer to your HP Server
Operations and Maintenance Guide for procedures to power down and open the server.
Take the following steps to install the SCSI accessory cable:
1. If the server is operating, log off all users, back up files, and power down the server.
2. Disconnect the power cord and any external cables connected to the server. If necessary, label each one to expedite
re-assembly.
3. Open the server to gain access to the system board and the mass storage drive cage.
4. Install the accessory mass storage drive following the instructions included with the mass storage drive installation
kit.
5. Connect the SCSI accessory cable system board connector to the system board. The example in Figure 2 shows the
SCSI accessory cable connected to the SCSI A connector on the system board.
6. Connect the remaining end of the SCSI accessory cable to the mass storage drive. If the mass storage drive has a
50-pin connector, connect the cable to the drive using a 50-to-68 pin adaptor, as shown in Figure 2.
7. Secure the SCSI accessory cable to cable clamps in the server. The example in Figure 2 shows the terminator secured
by a cable clamp.
